Iran Grants Iraqi Oil Tankers Passage Through Strait of Hormuz Amid US-Israel-Iran Conflict
The Strait of Hormuz has become a critical point of contention in the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict, but recent developments suggest that Iraq's oil exports may have found a temporary reprieve.
Iran has granted special permission for Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the strategically important waterway, according to Iran's state news agency IRNA. This decision follows repeated requests from Baghdad, which seeks to maintain the flow of its oil exports through the Strait.
The permission was reportedly among the key requests discussed during Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf’s visit to Iraq. Iraqi officials had been seeking arrangements that would allow Iraqi vessels carrying oil to continue passing through the Strait.
Iraqi President Nizar Amedi confirmed on Saturday that Iran had facilitated the passage of vessels carrying Iraqi oil through the Strait in recent days, highlighting the importance of the waterway for Iraq's energy exports.
