Iran-Gulf Talks Postponed Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions and Pipeline Shutdown
Strategic talks between Iran and Gulf states aimed at managing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz have been postponed, further complicating efforts to secure shipping routes in the region.
The planned meeting, set for Monday, was put off due to conflicting demands from regional countries, according to an Iranian foreign ministry official cited by Fars news agency.
The postponement comes as Saudi Arabia's decision to keep its key east-west pipeline closed following drone strikes on Friday has added to concerns over global energy supplies. The pipeline's closure could jeopardise up to 4% of the world's oil supply, traders and buyers told Reuters.
