Tehran has announced that it has started producing oil from the Susangerd oil field in Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran. This milestone marks the beginning of production for the first time after nearly 20 years since the field's discovery.

The Iranian news agency Tasnim quoted Hamid Deris, CEO of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, as saying that oil production from the Susangerd field has commenced after drilling and repair of well number 4. He explained that developing the Susangerd oil field is one of the company's important projects.

The expected production capacity in the first phase of development is reportedly 18,000 barrels per day. The CEO noted that subsequent phases will involve broader plans to increase production from this field.
