Iran Marches On as Oil Tanker Attacked in Hormuz
Iran's government has organized a massive march in Tehran, drawing hundreds of thousands of participants who are showing their defiance towards the US and Israel. The march is seen as a response to the attacks launched by these countries in February, which have exacerbated Iran's economic difficulties.
The volunteers who participated in the march say they are ready to take up arms to defend their country. Estimates suggest that over 600,000 people have registered for the 'Janfaday-e Iran' initiative, which aims to provide an additional layer of security to support the powerful Revolutionary Guard and its volunteer-based wing, the Basij.
Meanwhile, in the Strait of Hormuz, a UK-registered oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while passing through the waters. The impact caused a fire on board, but all crew members are reported to be safe, and no environmental damage has been confirmed.
