Iran Offers Seven-Day Deal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz and Resume Nuclear Talks
A proposed deal by Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear talks could be underway within seven days, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The plan would require the United States to lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports, waive sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and observe a ceasefire that includes Lebanon.
Araghchi stated that the seven-day timeline would start as soon as the US accepts this proposal. He explained that initial steps would take about four to five days to complete, with the strait opening on the sixth day.
The proposed deal resembles the Memorandum of Understanding reached in June but with an accelerated timetable. Araghchi emphasized that on day seven, talks with the US would begin for a final agreement on mutually agreed subjects, referring to Iran's nuclear program.
