Iran Offers to Help Resolve Houthi-Saudi Conflict
The ongoing conflict between Yemen's Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) and Saudi Arabia has reached a critical point, with Iran offering to help resolve the situation. In a recent briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran is ready to provide assistance in advancing the peace process.
The conflict resumed in mid-July after a four-year lull, with the Houthis accusing Saudi Arabia of striking Sanaa airport and declaring a naval blockade on Saudi vessels in the Red Sea. The Houthis have also claimed responsibility for carrying out strikes using ballistic missiles and drones against an Aramco oil refinery in Riyadh.
Iran believes that a roadmap developed several years ago could serve as the basis for resolving the conflict, according to Baghaei. The Iranian government's offer comes amidst escalating tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
