Iran Prepares for War with US Amid Diplomatic Tensions
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country is prepared to resume fighting with the United States if necessary, but has not yet abandoned diplomacy. In a recent interview with NBC News' 'Meet the Press', Araghchi stated that Iran stands firm in the face of any new aggression and is fully prepared for war.
Araghchi was discussing a proposal offered by Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil chokepoint, within seven days as part of a plan conveyed through mediator Qatar. The US had rejected this proposal, with President Donald Trump saying he turned down the deal because Iran wanted to open the strait immediately due to their loss in the conflict.
Araghchi clarified that despite Trump's public comments, the rejection had not been officially communicated to Iran via mediators. He reaffirmed that Iran is willing to reopen the strait as part of an agreement to end the conflict, but wants its frozen assets and monies released in return.
