Iran Restores Half of Damaged South Pars Gas Production Capacity
Iran has made significant progress in restoring its gas production capacity after US-Israeli attacks damaged the South Pars field.
According to Deputy Oil Minister for Planning Ahmad Zera'atkar, around half of the damaged capacity was restored by September 22nd. Some production units were brought back online earlier than initially scheduled.
The reconstruction effort is being funded through domestic financing, with four projects launched as part of a major financing program. The government's targets for recovery are being met, and remaining measures are expected to be completed before winter.
Iranian Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad stated that the country had lost about 230 million cubic meters per day of gas processing capacity since four gas-processing plants were taken offline during the US-Israeli aggression against Iran. However, efforts to utilize spare capacity at other facilities have recovered nearly 100 million cubic meters of the lost output.
The government is working with Parliament's Energy Committee on plans to manage gas supplies, particularly deliveries to power plants that depend heavily on natural gas to generate electricity. Stocks of liquid fuels are being increased as a backup for power plants and industries during periods of peak winter demand.
