An oil tanker owned by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been seized by Iran and is now moving towards the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, according to a report from the semi-official Fars news agency.

The tanker was initially heading towards Jebel Ali, a major port city in the UAE, but changed course after being intercepted by Iranian authorities.

This incident marks another escalation in tensions between Iran and the international community, particularly with regards to the management of the Strait of Hormuz.
