Iran Sells $18 Billion Worth of Oil Amid War and Ceasefire
The Iranian oil ministry reported that it successfully sold $18 billion worth of oil during both the war and ceasefire periods with the US. The sales figures include $11.5 billion during the conflict and $6.5 billion after hostilities ceased earlier this month.
These revenues account for more than 60 percent of Iran's projected oil income in the current year, according to the ministry.
The war began on February 28 when US-Israeli strikes prompted Iran to retaliate against its allies. The conflict eventually subsided with an April ceasefire, only to resume again in July as both sides contest control over the vital Strait of Hormuz.
