Iran Strikes Gas Gold in Fars Province Discovery

Iran's Ministry of Petroleum announced the discovery of a massive gas field in the Fars province, containing 7.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The recoverable portion of this find is estimated to be around 5.7 trillion cubic feet, which would cover 15 years' worth of output from the first phase of South Pars, the world's largest gas field.

According to Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, this discovery adds significant hydrocarbons to Iran's national reserves and reflects industry efforts to identify new resources. The field contains a substantial volume of condensate gas that could generate tens of billions of dollars for the Iranian economy.

Paknejad highlighted the sweet quality of the gas, which would reduce development operating costs and overall exploitation expenses. He stressed the urgent need to accelerate field development to begin production as soon as possible, with output destined for industry and other high-energy-consumption sectors within the country.
