Iran Strikes Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz Amid Growing Tensions
The Iranian government claims to have struck an oil tanker trying to transit the Strait of Hormuz in what it described as an 'illegal attempt'.
The state broadcaster cited the Revolutionary Guard Corps, which has asserted control over much of the waterway since the US and Israel launched attacks in February.
Hundreds of thousands of Iranians rallied in Tehran in support of the government, vowing to take up arms for Iran. The protesters trampled flags of the US and Israel and chanted 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.'
