Iran Strikes Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz, Rallies Thousands in Support

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for attacking an oil tanker trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, citing an 'illegal attempt' to transit the waterway. The Togo-flagged vessel, identified as the Trend, was struck due to its unauthorized passage through the strait, according to Iranian state broadcaster.

The incident occurred while hundreds of thousands of people rallied in Tehran, demonstrating their support for the government since the US and Israel launched attacks in February. Participants trampled flags of the US and Israel, chanting 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.'

Separately, a tanker in the strait was hit by an unknown projectile, causing a fire that was later extinguished. The crew was reported safe with no immediate indication of environmental damage.
