Iran Strikes Oil Tanker, Thousands Rally in Support
The Strait of Hormuz has seen another incident involving an oil tanker. Iran claimed to have struck a Togo-flagged oil tanker, the Trend, for attempting to transit through the strait without authorization. The Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that unauthorized passage would result in destruction.
A separate report from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations mentioned an 'unknown projectile' hitting another tanker, causing a fire that was later extinguished. However, it's unclear if this incident is related to Iran's claim.
The tension in the region has led South Korea to consider expanding its naval operations in the Gulf of Aden to protect its ships and oil routes. The country's president, Lee Jae Myung, emphasized that they would not intervene in the US-Iran conflict, but rather focus on securing their own interests.
