Iran Tensions Fuel Big Oil's Record Profits
Big oil companies are raking in record profits as tensions between Iran and the West drive up global energy prices. According to reports, top oil producers such as ExxonMobil and Chevron are reaping the benefits of high crude prices, which have surged due to concerns over Iranian oil exports.
The situation has been exacerbated by ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East, which have raised fears about potential disruptions to global oil supplies. As a result, investors are scrambling to get in on the action, sending oil futures prices soaring.
ExxonMobil, one of the world's largest oil producers, reported net income of $15.9 billion for 2022, up from $14.3 billion in 2021. Chevron also posted impressive profits, with a net income of $35.5 billion last year, compared to $26.6 billion in 2021.
The Iranian crisis has also had an impact on the US stock market, with oil stocks leading the charge higher. ExxonMobil and Chevron are among the top performers, with shares surging by as much as 10% over the past month alone.
