Iran Tensions Send Oil Prices Soaring Amid Supply Disruption Fears
Oil prices rose on September 8 as tensions between Iran and the US intensified. Brent crude futures increased by $0.49, or 0.5%, to $97.49 a barrel by 04:00 GMT.
The recent uptick in hostilities has raised concerns about supply disruptions and potential price volatility not only for the rest of 2026 but also into 2027.
Suvro Sarkar, head of energy research at DBS Bank, warned that the situation could have a significant impact on markets. According to him, 'the recent uptick in hostilities between the U.S. and Iran has the potential to materially change markets' reading of oil price related risks not only for the rest of 2026, but well into 2027 now.'
