Iran Threatens Retaliation Against Middle East Energy Facilities
The Iranian government has warned that it will target major energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Israel if the United States or Israel carry out fresh strikes. According to a report by Tasnim News, Iran has devised a comprehensive plan to disrupt the oil and gas infrastructure of the Middle East.
The reported target list includes the Ghawar oil field in Saudi Arabia, which accounts for over 5% of global oil supply, as well as the Abqaiq and Khurais facilities. The UAE's Zakum oil field and Ruways refinery are also on the list, with a processing capacity of over one million barrels per day.
The Iranian plan also encompasses Qatar's North Field and Ras Laffan, which together account for approximately 20% of global liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade. Kuwait's Burgan oil field, Bahrain's Sitrah refinery and Al-Mihaj, as well as Israel's Leviathan and Tamar gas fields are also reportedly on the target list.
A senior Iranian security official quoted by Tasnim News said that Iran has prepared a comprehensive plan to respond to any potential American recklessness. The official cited the 40-day war, claiming that Iran had bombed Qatar's most vital gas refinery and asserting that Trump later apologized on Truth Social.
