Iran Threatens Retaliation Against US-Backed Strikes on Saudi, UAE Energy Facilities
Tehran has issued a warning of retaliation against any US strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure. According to Iran's state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency, the country has devised a comprehensive plan to target crucial oil and gas facilities across the Middle East.
The reported target list features key sites in Saudi Arabia, including the Ghawar oil field, which accounts for over 5% of global oil supply, as well as the Abqaiq and Khurais facilities. In the United Arab Emirates, the facilities named include the Zakum oil field and the Ruways refinery, which has a processing capacity of over one million barrels per day.
The Iranian plan also encompasses Qatar's North Field and Ras Laffan, which together account for approximately 20% of global liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade. A senior Iranian security official stated, 'We have prepared a comprehensive plan to respond to any potential American recklessness.'
