Iran Threatens Retaliation as Trump Cancels Strike Plan Amid Diplomatic Progress
The Iran-US conflict continues to escalate as Tehran warns of a possible attack on other nations' oil and gas sites if Washington renews strikes. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi made these comments in separate phone calls with senior Turkish, Pakistani, and Saudi officials.
Araqchi emphasized that Iran would respond decisively to any 'aggression', highlighting the consequences of destabilizing actions by the US and prospects for heightened regional insecurity. The remarks come after Kuwait's army reported destroying hostile drones launched by Iran against several vital facilities.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced he would hold off on a planned attack on Iran as long as a deal could be reached quickly to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated that Iran and other Middle Eastern countries had asked for time to complete a deal leading to the immediate reopening of the strait and an end to Iran's nuclear threat.
