Iran Threatens to Expand War Zone into Indian Ocean Amid Tensions with US
An adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has warned that if the country suffers another attack, it could expand its military operations into the Indian Ocean. This warning comes as tensions between Iran and the US escalate, with Brent crude prices surging to around $106 after the statement was made.
Yahya Rahim Safavi, an adviser to the Supreme Leader, said that if Iran is attacked again, it could lead to a further expansion of the war beyond the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, which have already seen conflict. The Indian Ocean would be a new front in the conflict, with the US-UK military base at Diego Garcia being a potential target.
The US has previously been targeted by Iran's ballistic missiles, with one missile malfunctioning mid-flight on March 21st and another being intercepted by a US Navy vessel. Despite these incidents, the US and Israel have continued to threaten Iran, leading to increased tensions in the region.
