Iran Tries to Distance Itself from Houthis Amid Escalating Conflict
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is making an effort to distance his country from Yemen's Houthis as Saudi Arabia prepares a joint military response to the group's attacks.
Pezeshkian stated, 'The Houthis are responsible for their own actions,' in reference to the escalating conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
In related news, Saudi Arabia claims it intercepted six ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced an updated proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Araqchi, Tehran has proposed ending hostilities on all fronts within seven days if the United States lifts its blockade of Iranian ports, releases frozen Iran funds, and waives oil sanctions.
The proposal follows recent indirect US-Iran talks in New York, but the two sides remain far apart on ending the war.
