Iran-US Tensions Ease as Stocks Rise
US equities are expected to start the week on a positive note following an apparent pause in hostilities between the US and Iran. According to reports, Iran has signaled a halt in its military aggression as long as the US does not resume strikes. This development comes after Washington decided to pause its bombing operations due to concerns over suitable targets and conserving weapons inventories.
Futures tracking the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced by 257 points or 0.49%, indicating a potential positive start for US equities. The S&P 500 futures were 0.66% higher, while contracts on the Nasdaq 100 gained 1.08%. Oil prices, however, saw a decline after Iran's announcement, with Brent crude futures shedding over 5% to trade near $92 per barrel.
According to Iranian officials, Tehran will hold off on further military operations provided US strikes remain suspended. However, the leadership cautioned that it remains watchful over Washington's long-term motives.
