On August 19th, an oil tanker attempting to pass through the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz received a warning from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy. The IRGC had previously targeted Emirati tankers exhibiting similar behavior but chose to issue a warning in this case.

The tanker, crewed by Chinese nationals, announced its nationality while passing through the strait, and after receiving the warning, it turned back from the southern corridor route and moved away from the Strait of Hormuz.

This incident occurred just after Donald Trump stated that 'the strait is under US control.'
