Iran Warns of Regional Consequences if Security Not Guaranteed

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a warning to the United States, saying that if Iran's security is not guaranteed, infrastructure in the region will be targeted. In a speech before Iran's parliament on Tuesday, Ghalibaf also warned that no country in the region will be able to sell oil if Iran is blocked from doing so.

Ghalibaf criticized US President Donald Trump's claims that the US has control over the Strait of Hormuz, calling them 'baseless.' On Trump's threats to 'annihilate' Iran during his speech to the UN General Assembly last week, Ghalibaf said his country did not seek war but is ready to defend itself.
