Iran Warns of Seismic Retaliation as US Prepares Economic Sanctions
Iran's Supreme National Security Council leader Mohsen Rezaei has warned of 'seismic' retaliation against US and Middle Eastern countries if they join Washington's economic sanctions push against Tehran. Rezaei, a hard-liner, said any nation participating in the sanctions will be considered an enemy.
The Trump administration is set to impose new economic sanctions, dubbed 'economic D-Day', which are likely to replace further military action. The move comes as Iran struggles under the weight of a US naval blockade and existing harsh sanctions aimed at economically isolating the Islamic regime.
Iran's oil economy has been severely impacted by the blockade, with crude oil production falling dramatically in recent months. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged that the current situation cannot last, stating 'capital and money are extremely sensitive to risk'. We have to remove this risk from the country.'
