Iran Warns US: Threaten Our Security, Face Global Energy Market Consequences
Tehran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned the US and other countries that Iran will not allow its security to be compromised. Speaking during a public video conference, he linked security in the region to the movement of oil.
Ghalibaf stated that 'in a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil', implying that any aggression or threats towards Iran's security would have far-reaching consequences for global energy markets. He also warned that if Iran's security is not ensured, 'no infrastructure will be safe'.
This comes as the US and Iran continue to engage in indirect talks through mediators, with a US official indicating that Washington is willing to offer sanctions relief and release frozen funds in exchange for concrete progress on the nuclear issue.
