Iranian LNG Tanker Targeted in Strait of Hormuz Incident
A liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker called Gaslog Shanghai was reportedly targeted by a projectile while navigating through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian news agency Fars.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning in the southern route of the strait, within the waters of Oman, approximately 11 nautical miles northeast of the city of Lima.
The Gaslog Shanghai was carrying a cargo of Qatari LNG and had turned off its automatic identification system (AIS) while passing through the area.
Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations confirmed that the tanker lost its maneuvering capability due to damage sustained in the engine room.
