Iranian Revolutionary Guards Attack Oil Tanker in Strategic Strait

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have reportedly attacked an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, setting it on fire and forcing it to stop. The incident occurred near Khasab, on the Omani side of the strategic maritime chokepoint.

The Togo-flagged oil tanker was attempting to transit through the Strait when it was targeted by the Revolutionary Guards. According to authorities, the crew is safe and there is no confirmed environmental impact from the attack.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations has issued a warning to ships to exercise caution when transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.
