Iranian Vessel Struck Near Qeshm Amid Escalating Tensions

One person was killed and three others injured after an Iranian commercial vessel was struck near Qeshm, according to local officials. The incident occurred at around 5 a.m. on September 13 in waters between Hengam Island and the village of Shib Deraz, south of Qeshm.

The Qeshm Governor Amir Teymouri described the strike as an 'attack by the terrorist enemy' but did not identify the alleged attacker or say what type of projectile was used. The US military has targeted several Iranian oil tankers in response to missile attacks by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps against US warships.

The reported strike comes amid escalating tensions on commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices surged to a four-month high as concerns over supply disruptions and renewed inflation grew.
