Iran's Confrontational Posture Tests Trump's Blockade
Iran's new military leadership is taking a confrontational stance towards the US, which could lead to a major test of President Donald Trump's blockade on Iranian oil exports.
A massive Iranian oil tanker was loaded with approximately 2 million barrels of crude oil at the Azarpad jetty on Kharg Island, marking the first observed crude loading at the terminal since late July.
The news comes after Tehran reshuffled its military leadership, promoting veteran Revolutionary Guard figures who favor a more aggressive posture towards Washington.
Either the US allows the tanker to pass through the strait, weakening the credibility of the blockade, or US forces stop it and risk an escalation that current US missile stockpiles may not be able to sustain for long.
