Iran's IRGC Navy Targets Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Tensions
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy in Iran has been targeting oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz over the past five days, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
The IRGC Navy has attacked at least seven vessels, with two explosions occurring on Friday, October 2, one at the entrance and one while exiting the strait. The targeted tankers include two Kuwaiti vessels and three United Arab Emirates ships.
This development comes despite US President Donald Trump's claims that 'the Strait of Hormuz is open and under his country's control.'
In a press conference on October 3, Trump predicted that the war with Iran would end 'very quickly' and that oil prices would plummet once the conflict was over.
