Iran's IRGC Targets Togo Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran has claimed that a Togo-flagged oil tanker was attacked while attempting to make an 'illegal passage' through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the IRGC, the tanker caught fire and came to a halt after being struck. The Iranian military stated that it still controls the critical waterway and will not allow the passage of any aggressor.
US President Donald Trump said he was approaching a major decision on whether to resume large-scale attacks on Iran as Washington weighs how to bring the months-long war to an end. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported a security incident in the Strait of Hormuz 16 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman.
The attack has led to a decrease in West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil prices, which are down 1.12% on the day at $96.40.
