Iran's Oil Minister Resigns Amid Blockade on Country's Exports
Iran's Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has resigned due to personal reasons, according to state media reports. The resignation comes as the country is facing a blockade on its oil exports by the United States.
The Iranian President's office announced that Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, will take over as acting Minister of Oil. Paknejad initially offered his resignation earlier but was asked to continue in his post by President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Paknejad insisted on leaving and his decision was eventually accepted by the president. Pezeshkian commended Paknejad's efforts and sincere service after accepting his departure.
