Iran's Oil Minister Resigns Amid Petrol Station Queues
Iran's Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has stepped down amidst long queues at petrol stations caused by ongoing war and US sanctions. The resignation was announced on Sunday by President Masoud Pezeshkian's office without providing a reason for Paknejad's departure.
Paknejad had been serving as oil minister since August 2024. In his place, Hamid Bord has been appointed as acting Minister of Oil by presidential decree. Bord is the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and has held senior positions at NIOC in the past.
