Iraq Boosts Gas Output at Halfaya Oil Field Amid Energy Security Efforts
Iraq's oil production is getting a boost from its Halfaya oil field. The field is now processing about 190 million standard cubic feet per day of associated gas to power plants in Maysan province and support the national grid.
The Halfaya oil field, operated by PetroChina Halfaya Company, produces around 400,000 barrels per day of crude oil. The associated gas output has reached a level of about 190 million standard cubic feet per day since early 2026.
According to Deputy Oil Minister for Extraction Affairs Naseer Aziz, the ministry is working on several associated gas projects to reduce flaring and improve energy security in the country. Iraq aims to end flaring nationwide by 2029.
