Iraq Offers Turkey Up to One Million Barrels of Oil Daily Amid Growing Energy Partnership

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi announced that Iraq can supply up to one million barrels of oil per day to Turkey, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries in the energy sector.

This was revealed during a joint press conference in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where al-Zaidi confirmed Iraq's export capacity after being asked by Erdoğan if they could supply one million barrels of oil daily. 'Yes, that’s right… one million barrels,' al-Zaidi replied.

The two leaders also discussed the Development Road project, which aims to create a transportation link between Iraq and Turkey, making them a meeting point between East and West. This project spans approximately 1,200 kilometres across Iraq and includes a railway and highway linking the Grand Faw Port in southern Iraq to the Turkish border.

The planned project is intended to position Iraq as a regional transit hub linking the Gulf with Europe through Turkey. Participating countries have established a joint ministerial mechanism to oversee its implementation, which is expected to begin immediately according to al-Zaidi.
