Iraq's Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi announced that his government has secured alternative routes for oil exports and activated border crossings to sustain trade amidst disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking at the eighth Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, Al-Zaidi stated that the government has 'more than one solution' to manage the regional crisis, acknowledging the difficulties and challenges posed by restrictions in Hormuz.

The country relies heavily on crude oil for about 90% of its federal revenue, making the Strait a critical conduit for Iraq's finances. According to Oil Minister Basim Al-Abadi, July exports reached around 49 million barrels, while shipments have averaged approximately two million barrels per day since early August.

Al-Zaidi also revealed that the government aims to increase Iraq's OPEC production quota to between eight and 10 million barrels per day over the next six years. Additionally, he stated that the draft budget for next year will soon be submitted, with a focus on electricity and solar power among its priorities.
