Iraq Unveils New Gas Processing Plant in Bid to Boost Energy Output
Iraq has inaugurated a new central gas processing plant in Basra, part of plans to expand oil and gas production. The Faihaa oil field is home to this newly opened facility, where Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair made the official opening on Friday. According to reports from the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Ministry of Oil expects significant contributions from this plant in terms of increased gas production.
The new plant will reportedly add 92 million standard cubic feet per day to Iraq's gas output, along with producing 9,800 barrels per day of liquefied petroleum gas. This represents a substantial increase in LPG production equivalent to approximately 840 tonnes per day. Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair emphasized the Ministry's ongoing commitment to implementing gas investment projects and boosting crude oil production.
Basra Oil Company Director General Bassem Abdulkarim highlighted their intention to support foreign companies working on these projects, ensuring timely completion within specified timeframes. This is expected to positively impact increased production rates across the region.
