Iraq has secured an agreement with the United States to resume oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, utilizing a shipping lane near Oman. The deal was announced by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein during an interview with Al Jazeera. This move comes as Iraq seeks to mitigate the financial impact of the ongoing Iran war, which has reportedly cost the country $60 billion due to disruptions in oil exports.

In addition to the shipping agreement, Hussein revealed that the US Treasury has requested Iraq to close all border crossings with Iran except for two. This measure aligns with Washington's strategy to intensify economic pressure on Tehran. One of the remaining open crossings is located in the Kurdistan region.
