Iraqi Drones Force Temporary Closure of Saudi Oil Pipeline
Saudi Arabia's crucial oil export pipeline was temporarily closed due to drone attacks from Iraq. The East-West pipeline, which links Abqaiq to Yanbu on the Red Sea coast, has seen increased use since the Strait of Hormuz was blocked by Iran.
An energy ministry official stated that the pipeline was shut as a precautionary measure and some injuries were reported. Satellite images showed black smoke near Madina, along the East-West pipeline's route.
The Iraqi government confirmed that the attack originated from its territory and dismissed the commander in charge of the southern province of Maysan. Riyadh condemned the attacks but chose not to retaliate at this stage, supporting efforts by the Iraqi government to prevent further incidents.
