ISA Investors Need £300k for £1,000 Monthly Passive Income
A Stocks and Shares ISA can be a powerful tool for building wealth, allowing investments to compound uninterrupted by taxes. To earn £1,000 monthly in passive income, an investor would need £300,000 under the commonly recommended 4% withdrawal rule.
This is a substantial amount of money, but it's not impossible to reach with consistent contributions. An example of this can be seen in Atalaya Mining (LSE:ATYM), which has delivered a staggering average annualised total return of 28.5% since August 2016.
The company's copper production has scaled steadily at its Proyecto Riotinto complex in Spain, while the rising demand for copper from data centre infrastructure buildouts and global electrification has driven up prices. With net cash swelling to €340.2m from just €122m at the end of 2025, management is well-positioned to invest in new growth projects.
However, investors should be cautious about relying too heavily on past performance repeating itself, as commodity prices can be cyclical and sensitive to global events. Nevertheless, with a strong development pipeline and structurally supported demand, Atalaya Mining may still be worth considering for an ISA.
