Japan Acknowledges Saudi Arabia's Mediation Role Amid Regional Tensions
Foreign Minister MOTEGI Toshimitsu highlighted Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in maintaining Middle East stability during his recent visit to the kingdom. Japan recognizes Saudi Arabia's efforts in regional mediation, according to Motegi.
Motegi expressed concerns about the instability in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Straits, emphasizing that Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities threaten global energy security.
Japan has condemned the Houthi actions and urged Iran to exercise restraint over the Houthis, Motegi said. He also mentioned recent discussions with Qatar and diplomatic exchanges following visits to Iran as part of Japan's efforts to foster international momentum for progress in US-Iran negotiations.
