Japan Petroleum Exploration Ups Forecasts After Rare Asset Sale
Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (TSE:1662) announced its first-quarter results in August 2026, showing sales of ¥65,114 million and net income of ¥3,240 million, both lower than a year earlier.
The company's board meeting on the same day approved the sale of part of its investment securities, expecting to book an extraordinary gain.
However, this decision also raised full-year forecasts for sales, operating profit, and profit attributable to owners of parent, as well as adjusted dividend outlook.
This upgrade highlights how higher crude oil prices, increased volumes, and gains on investment securities are reshaping Japan Petroleum Exploration's earnings mix and capital returns.
