Japan Taps into New Oil Pipeline Routes Amid Strait of Hormuz Crisis
Japan has announced plans to support alternative Middle East oil pipelines that bypass the Strait of Hormuz in an effort to strengthen its energy security.
The decision comes after Japan's reliance on oil imports passing through the waterway was severely impacted by the ongoing conflict in Iran.
According to local media, Japan will assist initiatives by Saudi Arabia and other countries to expand and build new routes for crude that bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
In addition to supporting alternative pipelines, the Japanese government is also considering measures such as tapping into its oil reserves to help cope with supply problems and increasing crude imports from other countries, including the US.
