Jet Fuel Prices Soar 5.46% Amid Global Energy Crisis

The price of jet fuel in India has increased by 5.46% from September 1, taking it to Rs 121.28 per litre. This is the second consecutive monthly increase in jet fuel prices, following a decrease of Rs 5 per litre in July.

Airlines will be affected by this price hike as jet fuel accounts for about 35-40% of their overall operating expenditure in India. Higher jet fuel costs could lead to increased airfares as airlines contend with larger fuel bills.

The price revision extends beyond aviation and commercial LPG, with Mumbai's CNG prices rising by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 88 per kg, and domestic piped natural gas (PNG) becoming costlier by Rs 1 per standard cubic metre.
