Jio-bp Cuts Diesel Sales Amid Global Oil Price Surge
Reliance Industries' joint venture, Jio-bp, has capped diesel sales at 50 litres per customer per transaction due to disruptions in global oil supplies caused by the ongoing West Asia war.
The company's fuel outlets across India have also been restricted from selling more than 6,000 litres of diesel per day. This move is likely to affect long-haul trucks and buses that require larger fills.
Jio-bp had earlier restricted diesel sales in April as part of measures to manage supplies. However, with the recent escalation in the war and supply chain disruptions, the company has re-imposed restrictions on diesel sales.
The curbs may also impact the agriculture sector, which relies heavily on diesel during harvest season, although farmers are not concerned about immediate effects due to the ongoing kharif sowing season.
