Jordan Launches $11M Natural Gas Project in Ma'an Governorate
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has laid the foundation stone for a project to supply natural gas to Rawdha Industrial City in Ma'an Governorate, Jordan. The JD10 million project is funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development as part of a broader grant of around JD50 million to support natural gas supply projects across several industrial cities.
The government aims to connect industrial zones throughout the Kingdom to the natural gas network, reducing energy costs for industries by 35-60 per cent. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will strengthen Rawdha Industrial City's competitiveness and appeal to investors, supporting the industrial sector and creating employment opportunities.
The government has also extended investment incentives and benefits to Rawdha Industrial City, including energy cost subsidies, support for local labour wages, reduced container-handling fees at Aqaba Port, and lower land prices. This decision follows similar projects in South Aqaba, Quweira, Qastal, and Hashimiyya.
