K Line, a Japanese shipping company, has named its new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Toho Emerald. The vessel was built at Samsung Heavy Industries' shipyard in South Korea and is owned through a joint venture between K Line and Toho LNG Shipping, a subsidiary of Toho Gas.

The Toho Emerald will transport LNG for global customers, including its owner Toho Gas. It features an ME-GA dual-fuel engine designed to operate primarily on LNG, which supports efficient operations while reducing the vessel's environmental impact.

K Line has identified its LNG carrier business as a growth area under its medium-term management plan. The company aims to secure stable earnings through long-term contracts and respond to growing energy demand.
