Kawasaki Delivers New LNG Carrier to Petronas

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha has announced the delivery of Puteri Kelantan, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier built for Petronas LNG. The vessel was delivered on September 24, 2026, at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China.

The naming ceremony took place on September 2, 2026, where the vessel was named Puteri Kelantan, which means 'princess' in Malay. The name is inspired by a state in Peninsular Malaysia.

This new delivery is part of Petronas LNG's fleet expansion plans and is expected to support the reliable delivery of LNG to customers. Sister vessel, Puteri Negeri Sembilan, was also named during the ceremony and is scheduled for delivery in November 2026.

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha has positioned the LNG business as a top priority area for future investments, as stated in its Medium-Term Management Plan published in May 2022. The company aims to expand long-term contracts and accommodate growing demand for energy by responding to customer needs.
