Kazakhstan Harvests Record Amount of Grain Amid Strong Export Growth

Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin chaired a meeting to review the progress of the harvest campaign. The country has harvested over 16 million tons of grain, with an average yield of 14.2 centners per hectare. This year's total sown area stands at 24.2 million hectares, including 15.6 million hectares of grain and legume crops.

The harvest is progressing at about the same pace as last year, supported by financing for spring fieldwork and harvesting. Around 5,800 agricultural producers have received 664.4 billion tenge in concessional loans. Additionally, more than 7,500 concessional leasing agreements have been signed for around 8,600 units of machinery.

The country has also seen a significant increase in grain shipments, reaching 9.3 million tons in the first eight months of the year, up 13% year-on-year. Exports to Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, have also increased, with 4.8 million tons exported to Central Asia alone.

The meeting also covered preparations for next year's sowing campaign, with 1.7 million tons of seeds already stored, covering 77% of the required amount. Fertilizer supplies have reached 87% of the target, with 2.1 million tons contracted and delivered.
